So, if classic games are a thing with you, 2025 will not suck, but one genre stole the spotlight of the entire generation: Boomer Shooters. Yep, you’ve heard it right—retro first- and third-person shooters are big, and it’s about damn time. These give classic action in some fresh new packaging. If you’re all about that Quake, Doom, or Half-Life, well, it’s your season—some seriously exciting titles are on the way. What’s better, these games aren’t remakes or reboots; they are bringing classic feelings with loads of cool new features.

If you’ve been keeping up to date with the releases on Steam, then you probably saw a few of these that really rang all of the right bells. Spacepunk Survival is a multiplayer, first-person shooter game where you must survive hordes of deadly aliens in a derelict space station, all of that with beautiful and dark retro aesthetics.

Mekkablood Quarry Assault: Mech combat with old-school action. Classic combat with a twist of modern high-energy gameplay.

Satan: Chaos, demons, and all the Doom-styled madness your heart can take in. It’s time to blast your way through hell.

The Last Exterminator: Destroy the environment while fighting hordes of enemies in this retro-inspired FPS, combining classic action with modern technology…
