In short: AoE + Pudge hook + spread out

Mages have a very strong positioning, and simply lining up right in front of them will play into their strengths. One option is to punish their closely packed formation with AOE effects like your own Kunkka or an Enigma. These are very effective since they will almost certainly hit all of the Mages. Pudge is another very effective unit to punish this type of formation, since he will Hook the Keeper of the Light and dramatically reduce his effectiveness.

If you do not have a unit with that type of effect, you can try to draw the Mages out of position by placing your units near the backline. As the battle starts, they will walk forward, potentially exposing the more important units like Keeper of the Light. You can also stay spread out wide across the board to make their AOE effects only hit some of your units.
