In PES 2020, like with many football games, the slide tackle is generally a last resort. Instead, it’s best to focus on retaining your position and going for the quick interception, activated with a tap of the pass button.
Additional defensive controls include the ability to jockey (R2/RT) and apply pressure (hold X/A), but use the latter sparingly. On rare occasions, the slide tackle can be used to surprise your opponent when they’re bursting towards goal.
