FIFA 20 Volta Mode – 8 Tips That Will Make You a Better Player

Volta means ‘tempo’ in Italian, and the term has probably been used for FIFA’s new street mode given the fast-pace nature of the game in real life. With the addition of strafe dribbling mechanic, FIFA 20 VOLTA mode will allow players more control, agility, and precision. Here are 8 Tips That Will Make You a Better Player in Volta Mode.

Taunt your Opponent. There is a whole range of taunts available in Volta Football. Stand by the ball and press L1 (PS4) / LT /Xbox One) or R2/RB and your player will choose a random taunt to perform in front of your opposition.

There is over 20 in the game, from dance moves to sarcastic applause and everything in-between. This is a cool feature which is sure to trigger your opponent.

Don’t rush. Following that train of thought, calm heads lead to calm play. Rushing often leads to poor choices, so being clear in your mind about what you’re doing makes all the difference.

You can take another team’s players. As you progress through Volta World you’re able to recruit players from teams you’ve beaten. That player stays with their team, but a replica joins yours to be used to future matches. Oddly reminiscent of the pink slip car rewards in past Need for Speed titles.

Use Skill Moves. Skill Moves can leave your opponents on the ground, or scrambling in the wrong direction! Use Skill Moves sparingly to surprise the opponent, and remember to have players with high skill move ratings when using Skill Moves.

Home advantage matters. As Volta league matches have a home and away element, this means it’s important that you customise your home to suit your own play style. Do you like to play passes off the wall? Be sure that your court has walls. Perhaps you’re a skiller, in that case ensure your home match type is for smaller squads with more one-on-ones.

Streamlined Rules. In VOLTA FOOTBALL there are no substitutions, offsides, wounds, yellow or red cards, or even exhaustion/stamina. This is done so as to make a progressively open, fun and free-streaming game.

Use L2/LT to keep first touches close. A fancy first touch isn’t always the best option, especially if you’ve got a couple of defenders nearby. To keep the ball close to you, hold L2/LT as you receive the ball, and press the left stick away from the nearest defender. It’ll practically stick to your foot, and if you carry on holding L2/LT, your player will use their body to keep the defender at bay.

Watch the pros… Pablo Picasso said: “good artists copy, great artists steal”, so why take the next weapon in your FIFA arsenal from anyone but the best? It’s what the pros do! They all watch each other stream, so if you really want to up your game, that’s where to look.
