TOP 5 Most Anticipated Warhammer Video Games of 2022 & 2023

1 1

Games Workshop’s Warhammer franchise has exploded from its tabletop RPG roots to now include many genres of video games. From the first person co-op horde fighter Warhammer: The End Times – Vermintide to the entire army commanding tactical strategy of Total War: Warhammer, there’s a flavor of Warhammer game for just about every kind of gamer. That list of engaging Warhammer games is just going to get longer in the coming years, so let’s take a look at the top 5 upcoming Warhammer games for 2022 and 2023.

  1. Warhammer Age of Sigmar

First on our list is developer Frontier’s upcoming RTS adaptation of the 2015 tabletop game: Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Frontier is known for making the Jurassic World Evolution games, as well as Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster. Their expertise should serve them well in creating a real-time strategy army management game, and the Warhammer universe is a big enough selling point on its own. Development on the game has been rocky, with several delays pushing it to a late 2023 release, but be sure to keep an eye out for Warhammer Age of Sigmar around that time.

  1. Total War: Warhammer III

The perfect match of Sega’s classic real-time strategy game Total War with the characters and lore of Games Workshop’s Warhammer universe has already spawned two fantastic entries, and soon we will have the final chapter of the trilogy. The epic conclusion to the Total War: Warhammer series is coming with Total War: Warhammer III just on the horizon. Choose from five races, including the Kislev, Khorne, and Nurgle, each with its own strengths and weaknesses to lead into bloody battle.

The game’s campaign will take you from the Far East to the Realm of Chaos on a mission to put an end to the daemons you have been fighting for so long. Will you succeed in putting them down, or will you allow your army itself to be conquered? Brace yourself for war when Total War: Warhammer III charges onto PC, Mac, Linux, and Game Pass on February 17th, 2022.

  1. Warhammer 40k: Darktide

Next, we have the four-player co-op survival horde fighting gameplay from Warhammer: The End Times – Vermintide making the jump from the fantasy Warhammer universe to the dystopian sci-fi Warhammer 40K universe with Warhammer 40K: Darktide. Team up with up to three other players to form a squad that will travel deep into the city of Tertium, which serves as a hive for a dark, violent evil.

Choose from a number of classes and skillsets, and pick from an armory of weapons that include recognizable melee options as well as a brand new addition to the Vermintide formula: guns. Find a mix of melee and gunplay that works for you, master it, and do your best to prevent Tertium from falling victim to Chaos. Lay waste to an endless horde of monsters with your friends when Warhammer 40K: Darktide makes its way to Xbox Series X/S and PC in Spring 2022.

  1. Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters

Filling in the space for the turn-spaced strategy genre, we have Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. This title sees you leading a powerful, mysterious sect of Space Marines: The Grey Knights. The origins of this highly-trained, well-armed, and very religious order are entirely unknown, and those who seek out this knowledge find themselves either brainwashed or executed.

Customize your own team of Grey Knights with a selection of voices, armors, and facial options to make them all your own. Train them to learn special skills and abilities and equip them with the best weapons available; you are going to need them to fight the Bloom, a plague known for tainting lands and causing entire planets to decay. Call upon your Grey Knights when Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters finds its way onto PC in 2022.

  1. Warhammer 40k: Space Marines 2

Finally, we have the hack and slash third-person shooter: Warhammer 40K: Space Marines 2. This sequel to Warhammer 40K: Space Marines stars the original’s main character: Titus, who, as of the beginning of the game, has been promoted to a Primaris Space Marine, a much larger, much stronger breed of warrior. Combine ranged gunplay with close-up melee attacks to fight the insectile Tyranids, a telepathic hive mind of grotesque aliens. The soldiers at Saber Interactive are hard at work on the sequel, and while there is no solid release date, the game is expected to be available sometime in 2022. So don your Space Marine armor and be locked and loaded when Warhammer 40K: Space Marines 2 slashes its way onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC around that time.
