TOP 5 New Games Based on DC Heroes for 2022 and Beyond
/While Marvel currently rules the mindshare of comic lovers on multiple fronts, media surrounding DC comics superheroes is still being worked on, and much of it is good…aside from the live-action movies. As a matter of fact, DC is home to some of the oldest superheroes in existence, with DC comics being founded an entire 5 years before Marvel even came onto the scene! So while they appear to be in a rough patch, they have a number of fantastic projects under their belts across all media, and they have many more in the fryer. Let’s take a look at some of their video game projects on the horizon with this list of the Top 5 New Games Based on DC Heroes for 2022 and Beyond.

DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace
First, we have a video game tie-in with the upcoming DC League of Super-Pets animated movie. The game is DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace, and, while it certainly is a mouthful, it does feature some lesser-known hero adjacent characters. Now, before you roll your eyes as this game is clearly aimed at children, take a second to think about how many age-appropriate games are released every year in this space. Not very many comparatively, so I’m all for this kids’ game. While there isn’t much information on it, a short trailer does show Krypto the Superdog shooting down enemy robots with his eye lasers and gaining XP for each one.
No other characters are shown, but I think it is safe to say Krypto’s impromptu team will at least make an appearance, if not actually being playable. *Deep breath* DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace is expected to launch on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC in Spring 2022, alongside the film.

MultiVersus
The next game on this list is not completely about DC heroes, but it does feature many of them and might have more and more of them over time. MultiVersus by Player First Games is a platform fighter in the same vein as Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. franchise and features characters from all over the Warner Bros. Universe. That includes blockbuster series like Game of Thrones, Scooby-Doo, Tom and Jerry, and Adventure Time currently, along with some of the most recognizable DC heroes. MultiVersus is being introduced as a platform that will be supported for many years (hopefully), with new stages, characters, and other content being added to the game over time.
So while you can have Batman and Superman face off against Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn right now, in the future, you might have access to the whole Justice League for your personal royal rumble. MultiVersus is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC in 2022.

Gotham Knights
Play the next entry in the Batman: Arkham universe in WB Games Montreal’s Gotham Knights. This game is an action-adventure game like its predecessors, but it also has added features like multiple playable characters, a co-op mode, and RPG mechanics. Choose from four members of the Bat-Family: Robin, Red Hood, Nightwing, and Batgirl as they patrol the crime-ridden streets of Gotham City, where chaos has taken over since the loss of Batman. Have a friend join you on your mission with drop-in, drop-out co-op that will allow them to join and leave at any point while not disturbing your own progression.
Each character can level up, increasing their stats and giving access to new gadgets, but be warned, as you get stronger, so will your enemies. In between missions, you can explore the Gotham Knight’s home base of the Belfry to talk to other characters, change the character you are playing as, and gather your supplies for the next mission. These Belfry sections occur during the day, and, in true Batman fashion, all of your missions happen at night. Gotham Knights will be available for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC in 2022.

Wonder Woman
The next game on this list is a bit of a mystery since it was only just announced, and the announcement trailer is mostly audio with a maybe 3 second peek at what Diana will look like, but it has inspired much hype nonetheless. The game is Wonder Woman, being developed by Monolith Productions, the makers of fantastic open-world, third-person action-adventure games like the Mordor series. The high quality of those two Lord of the Rings adventures give me hope for their Wonder Woman game, which will reportedly be made in the same style, and might in fact be similar to the Arkham games that star her DC brethren. There’s no solid release date for this one, but there are rumblings that it should be available in 2023 and at least be available for the next-gen consoles and PC.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
The most exciting DC “hero” game of the near future is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League by the developers at Rocksteady, who are responsible for the fantastic Batman: Arkham games. In fact, this new game also takes place in the same continuity, with the story picking up after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight. Take control of the four members of the Suicide Squad: Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and Kingshark as they are sent on a mission by Amanda Waller to take down Brainiac, who has brainwashed the people of Metropolis, including the remaining members of the Justice League.
Fight with your friends in 4 player co-op, or play in single-player mode where you can switch between the four characters at will. The entire city of Metropolis is your open-world playground in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2022.
