skate.
It’s been almost 13 years since EA released a Skate game. The legendary franchise was last seen with Skate 3 in 2010, which has left many fans upset. The publisher made waves in July 2022 when they announced that the successor to Skate 3 would not be Skate 4, but rather skate. A free-to-play mobile game that has all of the fun the series is known for, but with a ton of online features that allow friends to meet up and challenge each other.
Not much is known about skate. at the moment as the game is still in early development, but we should know more and maybe even get it on our hands sometime in 2023.

Skate Shop Simulator
If you’ve developed a strong relationship with your local skate shop owner and want to try out their profession for yourself, look no further than the upcoming Skate Shop Simulator. In this game, you will pick locations, renovate buildings, and create a network of skate shops that offer all kinds of services, including repairs of many different items besides skateboards.
And better yet, you’ll be able to try out your new stock through mini-games! Hop on that new deck and take it for a test ride before you put it up for sale to make sure it is up to your standards. Skate Shop Simulator sounds pretty awesome, but it doesn’t have a release date at the moment. Keep an eye out for more news in 2023.

Skate Story
Devolver Digital is back up to its old tricks again, this time with developer Sam Eng and his project Skate Story. This trippy journey through an acid trip has a powerful skateboard warrior demon skating at high speed through the Underworld, destroying other demons and rolling on to his ultimate goal: skate to the moon and eat it, so you can be free.
Oh yeah, this one is going to be wild, and we can’t wait to play it for ourselves. This one only has a release window of 2023, but hopefully it’ll arrive sooner than later. For now, you can bump a Blood Cultures album in preparation.

Session: Skate Sim
The heir to the EA Skate throne was destined to be Session: Skate Sim. It was announced several years ago, and it finally made its debut just a few months ago. This game uses a dual-stick control scheme to simulate actual skateboard movements and features iconic, real-life skater dream destinations all over the world.
The game’s realistic physics are designed to make pulling off tricks feel real. That is to say: quite difficult. But just like learning a new trick in real life, getting a trick down in Session: Skate Sim will feel like an achievement to be celebrated. This is what you want in a simulator game, and you can play Session: Skate Sim on consoles and PC.

Skater XL
Our final game has been holding the skateboarding game fort down for a few years, and it’s still one of the best games you can play regarding the sport. It’s Skater XL, which is advertised as “The Ultimate Skateboarding Game”. It actually is that in a number of ways, including its Independent Foot Control system and completely freestyle trick system. There are no button combos, just the controls and the physics system at work.
The result is a wholly solid skateboarding game for fans of any age. Even better, Skater XL also features an in-depth multiplayer system that allows friends to link up and explore the game’s many real-life locations. Up to 10 players can rage on a single map, and even film replays to enjoy together. If you need an awesome skateboarding game right now, you’re in luck. Skater XL is also available everywhere right now!
