In Star Trek: Infinite, exploring the vastness of space ain’t just a backdrop—it’s the main gig; as you cruise through the galaxy, you’ll bump into a ton of planets just begging to be settled…
Basic Colonization 101: How to Colonize Planets in Star Trek Infinite
Expansion Map Mode
- Pop open the expansion map mode, typically chillin’ at the bottom of your screen.
- Here, you’ll see the lowdown on planets you might want to make yours.
- Make sure the planet’s in your hood.
- You’ll need a star base nearby before making any moves.
- Only the planets you’ve scoped out will show. If some are MIA, you probably haven’t checked ’em out yet.
Direct Planet Selection
- Spot a planet icon? Give it a click to get the deets.
- Make sure it’s up for grabs; this info’s usually listed under the planet’s type.
- Got a colony ship on standby? Left-click the ship, right-click the planet and hit colonize planet.
Using the Expansion Planner
- Dive into the expansion planner, either by tapping its icon (usually on the left) or hitting up F5.
- It’ll show all the planets ready for the taking.
- Hover over each one to see if it’s a go. Some might be off-limits at first, but with some tech upgrades and terraforming tricks, they’ll be game.
- Ready to claim? Hover over the planet, give it a click and decide if you’re using an old colony ship or building a fresh one. Remember your crew could be anyone from Vulcans to Humans.
Picking Your Crew for Colonization
Different folks have different strokes, especially when it comes to planetary vibes. For example:
- Got a planet like Risa that’s all about farming? Think about a crew that’s gonna boost those crops.
- On a brainy planet? Vulcans, with their smarts, might be your best bet.
Pro Tips
- Before you dive in, scope out what the planet’s packing, whether it’s farming, mining, or energy; that’ll help you pick the best crew for the job.
- Make sure you’re stocked up to either use a colony ship you’ve got or to build a new one.
- Keep checking out new planets to boost your options.
