Ark: Survival Ascended – How to Solo Trap & Tame a Giganotosaurus
Finding the Big Bad Giga
First up; Gigas are notorious for hanging out in the mountain regions across The Island, with a hot spot being around the volcano… But here’s a heads-up: I’ve seen a Giga go full-on BBQ mode by stepping into lava. So keep your eyes peeled & be ready for anything…
Other spots where these big fellas roam come with their own set of problems, like a bunch of carnivores that won’t think twice about crashing your taming party. It’s a tough world out there so stay sharp.
Picking the Battlefield
Once you’ve got a Giga in your sights, you gotta play it smart -> Lure it to an open area – somewhere you can keep an eye on incoming threats. But be warned, open spaces make you an easy target for rival players itching to ruin your day… It’s a risky move, but hey high risk high reward.
Gear Up
Remember the shopping list?? Two large bear traps & at least one gate frame. Grab a few extra gate frames, though – trust me, you’ll need ’em.
Setting the Trap
Start by placing your bear traps. Don’t get too eager with the gate frames yet – thanks to the latest update, Gigas aren’t exactly clueless anymore.
Luring the Beast
Now comes the fun part. Attract the Giga’s attention (a Pteranodon works wonders here)?? Lead it onto those bear traps you set up. Keep your fingers crossed it doesn’t take a detour.
Trap It Like It’s Hot
The moment that Giga steps on a trap, it’s go time. Circle around, avoid its deadly chompers & start setting up those gate frames to box it in. Remember, tight is right – no room for the big guy to squeeze through.
Double Bear Trap Magic
The first trap stops it in its tracks, then the second one locks it down… you’ve got a precious few seconds here – use them wisely to get those gate frames up.
Knockout Round
Now that your Giga’s cooped up, it’s time for a tranquilizer fest. Load up on arrows or Tran darts & let it rain until the beast takes a nap.
Rinse & Repeat
It might take a couple of tries to get it right; keep a respawn point nearby for those “Oops” moments. And remember never get too close to its mouth…
Pro Tips
Stay vigilant; other dinos (or players) might try to crash your taming party.
Open areas are a double-edged sword – good for visibility, bad for keeping a low profile.
