Empire Earth is a classic RTS series that hit its stride in the 2000s, a golden era for RTS games… Though the first game stole the spotlight, the second and third installments still have a loyal fan base, especially with mods that spice up the gameplay with new features and graphics improvements. You can grab Empire Earth 2 on GoG, and it’s even compatible with Windows 11.

So why did we put together this guide?? We wanted to help out both new players and those who might be a bit rusty or, let’s face it, have gotten a bit older. 😄 If you grew up in the 2000s, you’re probably hitting your thirties now… This guide is an easy-to-use reference that lists all the keyboard controls and hotkeys for Empire Earth 2. It’s perfect for a quick refresher so make sure to bookmark it!!

EE2 Keyboard Shortcuts & Hotkeys

Basic Controls

Esc: Access/close menu

S: Save game (at menu)

L: Load game (at menu)

G: Game settings (at menu)

R: Resign

X: Exit game (at menu)

Shift / Pause: Pause game

Enter: Open chat window

F12: Open encyclopedia

=: Increase game speed

–: Decrease game speed

Backspace: Default speed

Alt + Shift: Toggle in-game recording

Ctrl + J: Place recording bookmark

Ctrl + R: Rename selected territory

Delete: Disband selected unit or building

Alt + Y: Set signal flare

Spacebar: Go to last flare

*: Activate regional power (number pad)

Camera and View Options

↑: Scroll up

↓: Scroll down

→: Scroll right

←: Scroll left

Ctrl + →: Rotate camera right

Ctrl + ←: Rotate camera left

Zoom and Focus

+: Zoom in (number pad)

–: Zoom out (number pad)

Alt + Z: Return view to default zoom
