Aging in Might and Magic 8: How It Works

In Might and Magic VIII, your characters get older as time goes by, which changes their attributes. Getting older happens as you play the game or through magic from monster attacks and spell side effects. While you can’t turn back natural aging, magical aging can be removed by using the black potion of Rejuvenation.

Aging Effects: As characters get older, their attributes change based on their age group. The table below shows how aging affects each attribute:

Attribute Age 0-49 Age 50-99 Age 100-149 Age 150+
Might 100% 75% 40% 19%
Intellect 100% 150% 100% 10%
Personality 100% 150% 100% 10%
Endurance 100% 75% 40% 10%
Accuracy 100% 100% 40% 10%
Speed 100% 100% 40% 10%
Luck 100% 100% 100% 100%

Example:

  • A character with a Might of 100 will see it drop to 75 when they hit 50.

  • The same character will see their Intellect of 50 go up to 75.

  • Keep in mind: Every character’s birthday falls on New Year’s Day. This means their traits will change on that day based on their age group.

  • To remove magical aging: The black Rejuvenation potion can help. It’ll bring your character back to their natural age, removing any magical aging effects.

Tips:

  • Think about how aging impacts your long-term plans and which characters you should focus on for different roles.

  • Keep black potions of Rejuvenation for your key players who are crucial to your strategy and those who age due to magic.

  • Pay attention to your characters’ attributes as they get older, especially those close to big age milestones (50, 100, 150+). Change their gear and training to lessen any bad effects.
