Assassin’s Creed Shadows – FINALLY, feudal Japan… we’ve been begging for this forever. It’s Sengoku period, so you have your Shoguns, your Samurai, your Shinobi, and all that sneaky politics to fill, I dunno, a dozen Game of Thrones seasons. You can play Naoe (ninja skills, of course) & Yasuke (the real, historical, tough-as-nails samurai – at least Ubi claims that). They play totally different so that’s awesome.

But hold up before you go totally tourist-mode on the seriously gorgeous castle towns, active markets, shattered villages, and chill-out shrines – let’s talk about something a whole lot more important. Your. Save. Files… Seriously nothing kills the vibe more than losing hours of expertly-crafted ninja-star-to-the-face action!! (Don’t even ask how I know.)

Where Ubisoft Conceals Your Beloved Progress (PC)

Alright, if you received the game through Ubisoft Connect (on your computer, genius), this is where your save files will be. Buckle up for some folder-jumping:

<Ubisoft-Connect-folder>\savegames\<user-id>\8006\

<user-id>: This is an awesome big string of letters & digits that looks like the result of some person frantically smacking his face into the keyboard.

Why Bother With This Nerd Stuff?

Backups, Because Disaster Strikes: Updates don’t always go as expected. Glitches happen!! You don’t want to lose your progress… seriously… Backup.

New Gaming Rig? Transfer Your Files!: Got a new PC? Great! Transfer those save files over.

Mods, Tweaks, and… Shenanigans: Look, I’m not saying you should mod the game… but if you were to, you know, “tinker” -> you’d need these.
