Avowed Save File Locations: Where to Find Your Saves on PC, Xbox, and Linux

So you’ve been playing through Avowed, making very tough choices—some of them honorable, some of them outright irresponsible. Maybe you’ve hoarded way too many random items, or you just got annihilated in a fight you weren’t ready for. Either way, now you need to find your save files. Whether you’re upgrading to a new computer, backing up, or—no judgment here—messing around with your saves, this guide is here to assist you. Here’s where Avowed stores your save files on PC, Linux & Xbox Series X|S.

Where Are Avowed Save Files?

Steam Version (Windows)

If you bought Avowed on Steam, finding your saves will be easy. They’re simply in your Saved Games folder under your user account.

Save File Location:

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Avowed\

Microsoft Store / Game Pass Version (Windows)

If you’re playing via Game Pass, it’s a little trickier – Microsoft likes to bury files in weird places, but don’t worry – I’ve got you covered…

Save File Location:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Avowed_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\

If you can’t find the folder, open File Explorer, go to the View tab, and turn on Show Hidden Items.

Steam Play / Proton (Linux)

Playing Avowed on Linux via Steam Play? Your save files are hidden in Proton’s compatibility folder.

Save File Location:

<SteamLibrary-folder>/steamapps/compatdata/2457220/pfx/

If you have no idea where your Steam Library is, check ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/ or wherever you installed Steam.

Xbox Series X|S

On Xbox, you don’t need to worry about save files. Everything is stored online in the cloud so as long as you’re connected, your progress syncs between consoles automatically – just load up the game and pick up where you left off.
