Babylons Fall Beginner’s Guide: Top 5 Tips for Aspiring Sentinels
Platinum Games, the masters of the action game genre are back with a wholly new IP for fans of their particular brand of bombastic setpieces and over-the-top style. In the 3 years since their last big game, Astral Chain, they have been working on Babylon’s Fall, an original concept that combines fantasy with flashy combat. This third-person action game puts you in the shiny, customizable armor of a Sentinel, a powerful warrior who must scale a tower called the Ziggurat to cleanse it of the evil that lives at the top. Since this is a brand new game, everyone playing it is a beginner! So if you’re looking to get your Sentinel started in the right direction, this Babylon’s Fall Beginner’s Guide will have a few tips & tricks to get you going. Let’s get started!
-
Don’t Be Afraid To Stray From The Main Path
On each level of the Ziggurat, there will be an untold number of chests containing all kinds of awesome loot for you to add to your collection. The game will guide you along a set path to get you from the beginning of a stage to the end, but make sure you take the time to explore. Some paths and areas may be hidden, keeping powerful equipment just out of sight, so always explore all of your options before moving on. If you’re playing with a group, it would be a good idea to spread out, sending each person to a different area. This will ensure that you’ve covered the entire playable area, leaving no stone unturned and no path unexplored.

Give Different Playstyles A Chance
As with all Platinum Games titles, you will have many combat options at your disposal. There’s no point in picking just one right away and sticking to that for the whole game; the best way to progress is to try to spend time with all of the different weapons to get a feel for their timings and attack power. Aside from the many weapons, Babylon’s Fall also features a number of different factions, with more being added periodically as the game continues to grow and expand. Factions serve as the game’s class system, and will determine certain traits as well as the weapons you are given at the beginning of the game. You are only able to pick one faction per character, but you will have access to three character slots, and any loot you acquire will be shared between these slots, so don’t be afraid of missing out!
At launch, players will have access to the Huysian faction which is the warrior class that uses swords and spears, the Agavian faction which is the tank class that uses heavy weapons like hammers; and lastly, the Geleilion faction, which is your ranged class that uses bows and the like. Regardless of the class you choose, you will eventually be able to use any type of weapon. Choosing a faction doesn’t lock you into a single weapon type, but it will determine which Gideon Coffin and Dynamis abilities you are able to learn later.

Make Use Of The Conch Shop
After you meet Pygmalion at the Sentinel Headquarters, you will gain access to the Conch Shop. This shop has a number of items that will be useful to you throughout your journey, but at the beginning, you should look into purchasing the Starter Packs. These Starter Packs contain items that will appeal to specific playstyles, so as long as you’re testing things out to see what works best for you, I recommend picking these up to help you along. You can also purchase EXP boosters from the Conch Shop, which are expensive but very useful for gaining levels and upgrading.
-
Check Your Gear Frequently
You will inevitably collect a mind-boggling amount of loot as you complete missions and get to higher levels of the Ziggurat. In between these missions, make sure that you are comparing your newfound equipment with what you’re already using. You’ll often find that you found a few pieces that are much better than what you have equipped, and you should take that time to re-equip and re-organize everything. Aside from weapons and armor, you will also obtain accessories. Accessories are important in the formation of your preferred playstyle, because they can enable exclusive enchantments and abilities. You only have 3 accessory slots per character, though, so make sure that the accessories you go into a mission with are the best ones for the weapons and armor you’re using.

Learn The Power Of The Parry
If you thought that you were going to jump into a Platinum Games title without any stylish defensive options, you’re dead wrong. Babylon’s fall, like just about every other game they’ve made, features a parry maneuver. Parries are performed by blocking an attack just before it hits you. This will stun the enemy, opening them up to a combo or two before they can recover. Each enemy type will have different attack patterns, and the harder an enemy hits, the riskier it is to attempt to parry them for risk of losing a chunk of health. As with other skills in the game, this will take some time to master, but it might just be one of the most important and effective moves at your disposal, so make sure you do your best to learn it!
Conclusion
These tips should put you in a position to be successful at the beginning of your Babylon’s Fall adventure. I hope you’ll remember these while you explore the game and climb that menacing tower. Good luck, Sentinel!
