Black State: Is This the Future of Third-Person Shooters?

Black State stood out as one of the main attractions at Gamescom. The Turkey-based Motion Blur studio developed this game, which caught people’s eye with its lifelike graphics and smooth performance. Even though a small group of just 40 people made it, it’s created a stir in the gaming community…

The newest gameplay video showing off Nvidia-supported ray tracing, has only made people more excited. Black State borrows gameplay ideas from Metal Gear Solid, has a Matrix-like story, and looks a bit like Death Stranding. Gamers can’t wait to get their hands on this one (though after the big scam of The Day Before, some folks on Steam forums, think this might be fake), and it could bring a fresh take to the Third-Person Shooter genre.

Though Third-Person Shooters aren’t as big as they once were, Black State might shake things up for indie game makers similar to how Vampire Survivors made a splash with its unique approach. If it takes off, it could spark a trend of similar games.

It’s unexpected that a team of just 40 could handle such a large project but the project leader, Kadir Demirden has experience in the gaming world. In 2006, he teamed up with his cousins, Yakup and Yasin Demirden, to create Kabus 22, a game set in a post-apocalyptic Istanbul. The game stood out at the time and still has fans in Eastern Europe. People even upload gameplay videos of it on YouTube. Watch the game’s trailer and the exclusive ray tracing demo below!

We know you can’t speak Turkish, but if you want to learn more about the team behind Black State, they have their own YouTube channel where they clearly explain their ideas, including insights from Kadir Demirden, the Head of the Project. You can use YouTube’s translated subtitles feature for more information. Here is the link to their channel.
