Cassette Beasts: How to Level Up Your Bonds

The bond system is an essential aspect of Cassette Beasts, as it directly affects Fusion, a crucial mechanic in the game. Bonds are formed with different characters you encounter, who then act as companions and provide unique monsters during double battles. Leveling up bonds increases the power of Fusion and unlocks additional abilities.

Getting Started with Bonds

You will be introduced to the bond system early in the game through a tutorial featuring Kayleigh. Initially, each character you encounter starts with zero out of five hearts. To start leveling up bonds, you need to complete their initial quests, which will unlock the first heart.

Leveling Up Bonds

After unlocking the first heart, bonds will level up through various activities such as battling together, completing main quests, and fusing together. Some bonds may be locked until you complete specific character quests. For example, Kayleigh’s second heart is locked until you complete her morning Town cult quest.

Bond Progression Rewards

When you unlock the first heart with a character, you gain access to Fusion in battle. This ability is usually required to overcome powerful bosses or Archangels. As you level up hearts further, you unlock Fusion Power, a powerful move that deals massive damage when your AP is at its maximum. The power of your Fusion increases as you level up the bond.

Bond Leveling Events

Resting at campfires or cafes triggers heart-to-heart discussions with your companion characters, which can help level up the bond once you’ve reached a hidden value between hearts. These conversations help strengthen your relationships and offer insight into each character’s story.

When you reach the maximum bond level with a character, you have the option to explore a romantic relationship with them. This feature has no impact on gameplay and serves as a social simulation for players who are interested.
