Cities: Skylines 2 – Education and Employment
In Cities: Skylines 2, education isn’t just some fancy diploma; it’s the key to unlocking the best gigs in your city. We’ve got five levels of smarts here: Uneducated, Poorly Educated, Educated, Well Educated and Highly Educated. Your peeps need to hit the books to climb this ladder.
Schools
- Elementary School: This is where the little ones get their start. It’s for kids only and bumps them up from Uneducated to Poorly Educated.
- High School: The teenagers’ turf. Here, they move from Poorly Educated to just plain Educated.
- College: Teens and adults can hit the books here, elevating from Educated to Well Educated.
- University: This is the big leagues, and it’s for adults only. They go from Well Educated to Highly Educated.
Here’s the kicker: teens and adults have to choose between hitting the books and earning some cold, hard cash. Some folks are all about the hustle and would rather work than study, even if it means missing out on a fat paycheck in the long run.
Employment
Workplaces: Where You Hustle
Companies in your city need workers of all education levels, from the no-degree crew to the brainiacs. Jobs get more complex as companies level up and your educated folks are gonna be more efficient and productive.
The Company Ladder
- Zoned Companies: These can level up or down, changing the number and complexity of jobs they offer. Industrial spots usually need less brain power, while commercial and office zones aim higher as they grow.
- City Services: These jobs stay the same, no matter what.
Work Efficiency
Higher educated workers are the MVPs; they bring their A-game and make everything run smoother. But here’s the catch: if a genius is stuck in a basic job, they only perform as well as the job requires. And if there aren’t enough smarty pants to go around, the company’s vibe and output take a hit.
Keeping it 100: Happy Workers, Happy Life
Happy workers are productive workers. Keep your citizens healthy & happy -> and your companies will be thriving… But if someone’s out sick, that’s one less player on your team, which could slow things down until they’re back on their feet.
