Cities: Skylines 2 - Water Production and Sewage Guide

So you’ve got yourself a city to run in Cities: Skylines 2, huh? Cool, cool. But lemme tell you, if you ain’t got your water and sewage figured out, you’re in for a bumpy ride. Cities are like people, they gotta drink clean water and they gotta… well, you know, get rid of the waste -> so let’s break it down…

Water and Sewage Pipes: The City’s Veins & Arteries

In Cities: Skylines 2, most roads come pre-installed with pipes for water and sewage, kinda like power lines, but for your H2O. Any building you plop down next to a road is automatically hooked up to this liquid lifeline. For those lone wolves of buildings without road access, you gotta lay down some separate underground pipes. Whether it’s a single pipe for water or sewage, or a combo of both, the game’s got you covered with tools to lay ’em down and swap ’em out as needed.

Pump it Up: Water Sources

  • Water Pumping Station: Drop this bad boy by the shore – like a lake or river – and watch it do its thing. Just make sure the water doesn’t dry up or you’re in for a drought party.

  • Water Tower: This is like your emergency water stash. It doesn’t care about pollution, but dang, it’s gonna cost you some pretty pennies. It’s not as thirsty as other facilities, so keep that in mind.

  • Groundwater Pumping Station: Not into surface water? No problem! Pop this one on a groundwater deposit, and you’re golden. It’s especially dope for those tricky maps where surface water’s kinda scarce.

  • Advanced Water Pumping Station: Need more power? This is your guy. It’s like the basic Water Pumping Station but on steroids. Perfect for when your city’s blowing up and the thirst is real.

Dirty Business: Sewage Treatment

Sewage Outlet: The Quick Fix

The quick and dirty way (literally) to get rid of sewage. Just pump it back into the water. But, dude, make sure it’s far away from your clean water source. You don’t want that mixing.

Wastewater Treatment Plant: The Clean Machine

Want to keep things eco-friendly? The Wastewater Treatment Plant is your green warrior. This facility takes your sewage, cleans it up, and makes it ready for round two. It turns pollutants into solid waste, which then gets picked up by your garbage trucks -> it’s like giving your sewage a second chance at life…

Level Up: Upgrades

Like everything in life, there’s always room for improvement. Your water facilities in Cities: Skylines 2 are no different. You got operational upgrades, building extensions & sub-buildings, all there to boost your water and sewage game. Want to filter out more pollutants? There’s an upgrade for that. Need to pump more water? -> There’s an extension for that.
