Controls for Train Sim World 5
This article lists the default controls used for Train Sim World 5 on the PC, Xbox one and Xbox Series X/S.
Xbox Gamepad Controls
The default controller setup is called Immersion, & you’ll see it in the image below. It makes the most out of the limited buttons on the controller by using “modifiers.” These let you hold one button while pressing another to do something different. Check out the full layout in the video below:
Default Control Scheme (Locomotive)
Modifiers:
Operations Shift: Hold [X/Square] to control AFB, PZB, and sanding.
Camera Shift: Click and hold the [Right Analogue Stick] to switch between internal/external cameras, zoom, and take a screenshot.
Common Controls:
A/X: Interact
Y/Triangle: Enter/Exit seat
Menu/Options: Pause the game
View/Touchpad: In-game map
Left Trigger/R2 (in loco): Increase throttle
Right Bumper/R1 (in loco): Decrease throttle
Left Trigger/L2 (in loco): Increase brake
Left Bumper/L1 (in loco): Decrease brake
Left Stick Up/Down (in loco): Zoom camera
Left/Right D-Pad (in loco): Open/Close left or right doors
Hold B/Circle (in loco): Contact signaller/request permission to proceed
Click Right Stick (in loco): Switch between internal/external camera
Click & Hold Right Stick + Hold Down on D-Pad: Photo mode

Common Controls:
There are a lot of keyboard shortcuts, and you’ll pick up most of them as you play. But if you ever need a refresher, you can always check them out in the Settings menu.
- W/S (in loco): Move reverser forward/backward
- A/D (in loco): Increase/decrease throttle
- Q (in loco): Acknowledge alerter
- Tab (in loco): Contact signaller/request permission to proceed
- 1: First-person camera
- 2: Front/rear boom camera
- 3: Front/rear exterior camera
- 8: Free camera
- 9: In-game map
- Ctrl + 0: Return to cab
- Ctrl + F12: Take a DTL screenshot
- Esc: Pause the game
- Shift + F: Open fast travel menu
- Shift + Space: Photo mode
