Alright, time to dive into the culinary world of your settlement! With an array of foods on offer, it’s vital to understand what’s on the menu and how to make the best of it; let’s break it down:
- Fishy Business: Raw Fish is available year-round from lakes and rivers. But don’t be greedy! Once you clear out the fish in an area, it’ll need some time to come back. Tip: Use a food dryer to make dry fish. Not only does it taste better (well, maybe not), but it also lasts a lot longer.
- On the Hunt: Raw Meat’s up for grabs all year, thanks to your hunting prowess. But a heads up: come winter, those animals go into hibernation mode, making them harder to find. Pro tip: Cure that meat in a food dryer, and you’ll have jerky that’ll last you a while.
- Fruit and Nut Fiesta: Summer’s the prime time for Berries, Fruits, and Nuts. These goodies don’t last long, so munch on them during the season. Save the long-lasting stuff for the colder months.
- Pulse Point: Summer also brings Pulses, but you’ll need the right tech and tools to harvest. They’re a good mid-range option for shelf life.
- Crain-zy Work: Crain is the marathon runner of foods. It’ll last you ages, but there’s a catch: you’ve gotta process it. Convert Crain into flour, then work that flour into bread. It’s a bit of effort, but totally worth it.
