EA Sports FC 24: How to Do a Directional Nutmeg

95 1

Nutmeg in soccer is when you cheekily pass the ball through an opponent’s legs and run around them to get it on the other side. It’s a slick move that can totally embarrass the other player & leave them looking foolish. You can use it to get past a defender or just to show off a bit. Trust me, pulling off a nutmeg is one of the sweetest feelings in FC 24 – it’s like breaking someone’s ankles in basketball…

The Basics: Directional Nutmeg

Let’s kick things off with the standard Directional Nutmeg. Grab your controller and get ready to drop some heat:

  • Start by holding down both L1 and R1 on PS4 & PS5, or LB and RB on Xbox One & Series X|S.

  • Then, flick the Right Stick in the direction you want to pop the nutmeg. It’s gotta be a flick, don’t go holding down the stick or you’ll just end up playing yourself.

  • To get that sweet boosted animation, always exit at a 45-degree angle. If you’re straight up, exit diagonally in the 10 or 2 o’clock direction. If you’re leaning towards 2 o’clock, then bail straight up in the 12 o’clock direction…

  • Use this bad boy when a defender is all up in your grill. If you see ’em coming in hot and you know they’re gonna make contact, hit ’em with the nutmeg and slide right by.

  • After the nutmeg, you’ll get a little speed boost. If you aim it right at an opponent, you can pass the ball ahead and leave ’em in the dust.

  • Time it right, and the ball will go through their legs. Even if it doesn’t, you can still cruise by & keep the ball under control.

The Side Variation

  • Hold down R1 & L1 (or RB and LB on Xbox) and flick the right analog stick to the side where your player is facing, either 3 or 9 o’clock.

  • Your player will drag the ball to the side with their foot, and it’s perfect for cutting inside and setting up a shot.

  • Best places to use it? On the wing and in the box. On the wing, you can cut inside, get next to the defender, and slide by ’em with this move. Inside the box, it’s perfect for getting away from defenders and lining up your shot.

  • Use it when you want to cut inside or dodge a defender’s block. It’s quick, tricky, and tough to defend against. If you’re one-on-one with a defender, hit ’em with the Side Variation to the left or right to open up that shooting angle.

The Ball Roll Variation

Last but not least, we’ve got the Ball Roll Variation. It’s a mix of a Ball Roll and a Directional Nutmeg, and it’s straight fire:

  • Start with a Ball Roll, and while you’re in the middle of the animation, hit ’em with the nutmeg.

  • The Ball Roll is a 2-star move, and the rest of its variations are 4-star or above. Make sure your player’s got the skills to pay the bills before you try to pull this off…

  • Use this move to set up the perfect shot angle. If you’re facing the sidelines, away from the goal, a ball roll followed by a nutmeg will put you in prime position.
