FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves – Full Controls Guide for PlayStation and Xbox

26 years. Twenty. Six. Years… Fatal Fury is finally back with City of the Wolves!!. Did SNK lose the keys? Was Terry Bogard on an extremely long road trip? Who knows!.. What I do know is that there’s a new REV system that’s designed to make things explode more, and two control modes: one for fans of finger-based agony (Arcade), and one for fans of just the pretty lights (Smart). Before you crash-face-plant onto the sidewalk of South Town, let’s get a quick run-down on how not to suck (initially). Controls guide activate!!

PlayStation Controls

Movement Controls (Shared Across Both Styles)

← / → — Walk backward/forward. Double-tap for a backstep or dash.

↑ — Jump.

↖ / ↗ — Hop backward/forward.

↓ — Crouch.

↓ + ← / ↓ + → — Crouch while guarding (Low block).

Arcade Style Controls

□ (Punch) — Press alone for a light punch. Combine with →, ↓, or ↘ for heavy or crouching punches.

× (Kick) — Press alone for a light kick. Combine with →, ↓, or ↘ for heavy or crouching kicks.

△ (Special) — Use alone or with directions (←, ↓, →) to perform special moves.

○ (Smart Combo) — Tap repeatedly to do automatic combos. Works from standing or crouching.

L1 (Throw) — Press for a forward throw. Combine with ← for a backward throw. Doesn’t work in the air.

R1 (REV Guard) — Use to block attacks, just like classic fighters.

L2 (Dodge Attack) — Tap alone for a Low Dodge Attack. Tap L2 + △ for a High Dodge Attack.

R2 (REV Blow) — Execute a powerful attack, usable on the ground or in midair.

Additional Inputs – Arcade Style

↓ + ← + □ or ↓ + → + × — Crouching Attacks

→ + ○ or ← + ○ — Directional Throws

△ + ○ + × + □ — REV Arts (Add a direction to change style)

R1 + ← — Quick Backstep

R1 + → — Fast Dash/Step Forward

↓ + R1 + ↑ or ↓ + R1 + → — Perform a Hop

R1 + △ + × — Trigger Ignition Gear (Super Move). With two full bars, this becomes a Redline Gear.

Smart Style Controls

□ (Smart Combo) — Just mash this button for easy, automatic combos.

× (Special Move) — Tap alone or use with ←, ↓, or → for special attacks.

△ (REV Blow) — Delivers a big, powerful strike. Works on the ground and in air.

○ (Throw) — Tap to throw your opponent. Combine with ← for a back throw.

L1 (REV Guard) — Use to block and defend like normal.

R1 (Ignition Gear) — Tap to unleash your super move. If you’ve got two full bars, you’ll use a Redline Gear instead.

L2 (Dodge Attack) — Tap alone for Low Dodge Attack. Tap L2 + △ to do a High Dodge Attack.

R2 (Dash/Step) — Lets you rush in or reposition quickly.
