Whether you’re trying to secure a crucial goal in the dying minutes of a match or defend a dangerous cross, winning headers can significantly influence the outcome of a game in FIFA 23. Here’s how you can improve your jumping ability and win more headers:
Jumping Higher:
- Power up: In FIFA 23, the game is scripted so that the amount of power you put into your header determines how high your player jumps. To maximize your jumping height, you’ll need to hold down on the power button for a longer time.
- Choosing the right player: The ability to jump higher also depends on the specific player you’re controlling. Top players with the best jumping attribute in FIFA 23 include Cristiano Ronaldo (90) – Manchester Utd, Bevis Mugabi (67) – Motherwell, and Oscar Lewicki (71) – Malmö FF among others. Position these players strategically in areas where aerial battles are likely to occur.
Winning Headers:
- Master the downward header: In previous editions, players could execute a low-driven header by combining L1+R1 with the shoot button. However, this mechanic has been removed in FIFA 23. Now, to perform a downward header, simply tap the shoot button. This makes your player head the ball downwards, which increases the chances of scoring or effectively clearing the ball.
- Timing is crucial: Anticipate when the ball is going to reach your player and time your header accordingly. If you time your header too early or too late, you might miss the ball completely or fail to direct it accurately.
- Positioning: Ensure your player is correctly positioned before you attempt a header. Ideally, position your player’s body between the ball and the opponent to gain the upper hand in the aerial duel.
- Accuracy: Power alone won’t ensure a successful header. You’ll also need to aim accurately. Use the left stick to direct your header towards the goal or away from danger if you’re defending.
However, keep in mind that while mastering these techniques can improve your chances of winning headers, the outcome also depends on the match situation, player stats, and a bit of luck.
