Emergence Holes
The Emergence Holes are the basis of the Locusts’ assault techniques, and you’ll experience their effects on a regular basis during your missions. The appearance of an Emergence Hole means that a group of enemies, which may consist of one or more Locusts, will soon arrive. As long as the Hole remains open, new enemies will be able to extract themselves from it every turn.
To permanently neutralize an Emergence Hole, you will have no choice but to throw a grenade in it, but only after the first wave of enemies has arrived. However, even if you can’t destroy the Hole before it opens, you can still place your men on Overwatch to shoot any enemies that come out of it.
