The PC adaptation of God of War receives widespread praise for its smooth performance, but it has one significant shortfall: the absence of an inbuilt Field of View (FOV) slider. Sometimes, an excessively close camera angle can cause some players to feel nauseous or develop headaches, especially given the game’s high level of action. Thankfully, the solution has been discovered within the resourceful modding community in the form of the Flawless Widescreen application.
- Flawless Widescreen allows you to change the FOV in several games including Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 8, God of War. Once the download is complete, begin the installation process for Flawless Widescreen. Follow along with the setup wizard’s instructions. For easy access, you might want to create a desktop shortcut during the installation.
- Once the installation is successful, launch Flawless Widescreen. You’ll be greeted with a license agreement that you need to accept. Next, the application will ask for the game installation directories. Here you’ll need to input the path to your Steamapps folder which is where God of War is installed. This path will vary for each user, depending on where you have installed Steam. After inputting the correct path, make sure to save your changes.
- Within the application, navigate to the Search Plugins section and type God of War into the search bar. Select the resulting option to activate the game’s plugin. Next, within the plugin settings, look for the FOV adjustment option. Check the adjacent box to enable this feature. After that you can manipulate the FOV slider to adjust the field of view to your personal preference!
- You can test your new field of view settings by launching God of War. If the new FOV settings aren’t quite right, you can easily switch between the game and the application (using the alt-tab function) to adjust the FOV slider. Repeat this process until you strike the perfect balance for your gaming experience.
- Please note: This workaround is only applicable to the PC version of God of War so it won’t work for PlayStation. Now you’re ready to play God of War with your new tailor-made FOV settings.
