A jab step is when you pretend to drive in one direction towards the basket before driving in the opposite direction or shooting the ball. Here are the main steps for doing a solid jab step in NBA 2K23.

HOW DO YOU JAB STEP IN NBA 2K23?

XBOX ONE & XBOX SERIES X I S

When you drive towards the basket after performing the jab step, utilize your body to seal off the defensive player from getting in front of you, especially if the defensive player guards you tightly.

Hold L2 to post up. Hold R2 and move Right Stick up, then quickly release.

PS4 & PS5

Hold LT to post up. Hold RT and move Right Stick up, then quickly release.

After post up, flick the Right Stick in these directions for the following actions:

Remember that you can only jab as soon as you catch the ball and before you start dribbling. You cannot double dribble in NBA 2K23 so as soon as someone passes you the ball, or if you intercept it from the opponent, execute a jab step (if needed) before you dribble or before a dribbling/shoot move.

Use the jab steps to trick your opponent into thinking that you’re coming in. This will force them to go back, giving you an opportunity to take a jump shot.

You should also master the Pro Stick to shoot more consistently and without having to lift your finger from the right stick. It saves you precious time and lets you be flexible with your shots.
