Kaiserpunk: Essential Tips for Managing Army Supplies
Each of your armies needs to be supplied with resources. The army info panel gives you the sum of all resources required for the army to function at peak efficiency. In the city, supplies are delivered to the military base (of each army) on a daily basis. These goods are then transferred automatically to the army on the global map.
There are some caveats that you need to keep in mind:
â—† An army cannot receive supplies if it is effectively cut off from your territory. This is especially true of battalions as they require a clear path over land (an unbroken chain of owned or allied territory from the army to the home region or a Logistics center if it is closer)
â—† An army can only receive supplies from a Logistics center if the supplies are there. It’s up to you to make sure the resources are delivered to the Logistics center.
â—† It takes time for supplies to reach a Logistics center. It doesn’t happen by magic. Each day supplies are taken from your city to the logistics centers across the globe. The farther they are, the longer it takes to fill up a Logistics center’s inventory.
â—† Resources can only be transferred (ordered to be transferred) between logistics centers that are interconnected (a direct unbroken path). In this sense, your home region serves as a logistics center as well.
What happens if supplies dwindle?
Exactly what one would expect: the army’s efficiency in combat will gradually decline until it becomes almost negligible. If at all possible, NEVER send an unsupplied army into combat. That’s a sure way to get them all killed.
Another possibility is that you could have a mutiny on your hands. An army can rebel and even switch sides if the army general concludes you’re inept and should not be allowed to lead anyone, anywhere, at any time. Some might even hold a serious grudge and head straight at you.
If you’re engaged in a war on two separate fronts, be careful with your supply chains or your armies will run out of supplies. Also, the enemy might try to disrupt or completely cutoff some of your armies or logistics centers. If you manage to conquer a region with a logistics center, you’ll also get your hands on all or at least a lot of the local resources, making logistics centers some of the more ideal targets.
