Kaiserpunk – How to Boost Population

All of your buildings, excluding housing, require workers to operate. Some buildings require more skilled workers than others (higher classes). It is your job to ensure the population in your city-state is sufficient to fulfill the demand for workers. If you don’t, then some of your production facilities and public services will operate at lower efficiency, or even stop working altogether.

How to get more people

One word: immigration. The world is in tatters, and yes of course there are babies being born, but you won’t get far if you employ those babies in factories (besides, that’s just weird) or if you wait for them to grow up. You can search the city map for locations to salvage, repair or resolve in some manner, and on some occasions, you’ll encounter some out-of-luck folks who might join you. That should get you going, but sooner or later, you’ll want to cast a wider net and look for new residents in other regions. Meaning: start expanding, getting the word out and you’ll find more folks interested in coming in from the outside.

Now, of course it isn’t that simple. If you don’t take care of the people who are already in your city-state, that word will also reach far. Low Morale of a class of people in your city will lower how many more wish to join you. Keep you people fed, happy, safe and healthy and more will come. Do the opposite and your people will display your head on a pole.

It is important to remember that new residents will NOT join you until they have somewhere to move into. You must first build housing for a certain class and only then will they move in.
