Kingdom Two Crowns – The Catapult Station
Sells: Catapults (6 Coins)
Sells: Fire Barrels (5 Coins)
The catapult station becomes available when you build a stone-age wall in the direction you want to defend. You need to ensure there is enough space behind the wall for the station to spawn.
Once the catapult station has spawned, you can purchase a single catapult for that direction. After purchasing it, the catapult will be built and pushed to your outer wall by available workers.
The catapult needs workers to operate efficiently. You can assign up to three workers to a single catapult. These workers will automatically wind back the catapult to prepare for the next shot after it has been fired. The more workers you have manning the catapult, the faster it gets wound back, allowing you to fire more frequently.
When fired, the catapult launches a boulder over the wall to attack incoming enemies. The boulders can instantly kill normal enemies but have limited vertical and horizontal range. As a result, the catapult is most effective against enemies that are close to the wall.
Although the catapult’s range makes it challenging to hit floaters, it’s still possible to deal substantial damage to them if the boulders manage to hit. Breeders, however, pose a more significant threat. Boulders do deal decent damage to breeders, but they also break on impact. Be wary of breeders picking up and hurling back rocks at your troops.
If you already have a catapult constructed in a particular direction, you can use the catapult station to purchase fire barrels. When a fire barrel is purchased, an available worker will transport it to the catapult.
There’s no limit to the number of fire barrels you can purchase, so you can stock up as many as you want. When the catapult is loaded with a fire barrel, it will launch it the next time it fires. Upon impact, the fire barrel bursts into a fire trap, igniting all enemies that pass through it. The fire traps created by fire barrels are larger and last longer than those created by the lizard mount.
If the wall that your catapult is defending falls, the workers operating the catapult will attempt to retreat. Unfortunately, the catapult and any remaining fire barrels will be left behind and destroyed by the greed. Make sure to bolster your defenses to prevent the loss of this valuable asset.
