Well, back when Metro: Last Light first hit the shelves in 2014, a decade ago, the world was a chiller spot, no doubt about it… Fast forward to now and we’ve got the Russia-Ukraine tiff reminding us how flicks & games sometimes spell out tomorrow, always holding onto that sliver of hope that our globe ain’t headed for a nuke disaster, kinda like what you see in the Metro series, ya know? Well, in the game, we’re parked in the year 2034.

Under the wrecked vibes of what’s left of Moscow, down in the Metro’s guts, what’s left of humanity is duking it out with dangers from the outside and their own demons. Mutants are creeping around the underground’s nooks & crannies, breathing down our necks under the toxic skies up top. Metro: Last Light Redux? That’s the top-tier version of the much-talked-about ‘Metro: Last Light’, all spruced up in the latest tech for the Next Gen gamers.

And this guide right here? It’s your go-to for mastering the controls, laying out all the default keyboard moves & showing you what’s what in the game settings.

Keyboard Controls & How to Play

To move around, press W to go forward, A to move left, S to walk backward, and D to step right.

Need to hustle? Hold Shift to sprint.

Look around and take in the ruins of Moscow with your Mouse.

Look around by moving your Mouse.

For a quick melee attack, hit V.

Left-click the LMB to fire your weapon.

Right-click the RMB to aim or use alternate fire.

Press C to throw grenades or knives.

Hit Space to jump over obstacles.

Press Y to toggle crouch or Ctrl to stay low.

Interact with objects using E.

Reload your weapon with R.

Need to switch weapons? The [ ,] or Mousewheel are at your disposal.

For a specific weapon selection, use the numbers 1, 2, or 3.

Don’t lose your way; hold M to check your journal/compass.

In the darkness, your Lighter (M) or flashlight (F) is your best friend.

For those moments of injury, patch up with a MedKit using Q.

When wielding pneumatic weapons, keep them pumped with a long press on R.

Charge your essential equipment by holding F.

Activate Night Vision with N to see in the pitch black.

Equip your Gas Mask with G in toxic areas, changing filters when necessary with T.

Navigate through your menu and adjust settings with Esc.

For automatic weapons, you can change ammo types with R.

For a stealthy approach or explosive surprise, flick your Mouse Forward, Right, Backward, or Left to utilize throwing knives and grenades.

Keep an eye on your arsenal by holding Tab to access your weapons inventory.
