Might and Magic 7: Armor Skills Guide

In Might and Magic 7, characters need the right armor skill to use different types of armor just like with weapons. You can wear leather, chain, and plate armor on your body, and hold shields in your left hand. Each piece of armor slows down how you can act again after doing something. But if you’re good with armor, you can cut down or even get rid of this slowdown.

The Dodging skill works if you’re not wearing any armor. But there’s a cool exception—Monks who are super great at Dodging can still use the skill even when they’re wearing leather armor.

Leather

Here’s how armor skills work:

  • Normal: Your armor class goes up by your skill level.

  • Expert: You don’t have to worry about recovery penalties anymore.

  • Master: Your armor class increases by twice your skill level.

  • Grand Master: Your skill level boosts your resistance to Earth, Air, Water, and Fire.

Plate

  • Normal: Your armor class improves based on your skill level.

  • Expert: The recovery penalty isn’t as bad—it’s cut in half.

  • Master: Physical attacks do half the damage they would.

  • Grand Master: You can say goodbye to recovery penalties altogether.

Shield

  • Normal: Your skill level gets added to your Armor Class.

  • Expert: The recovery penalty goes away.

  • Master: Your Armor Class gets a boost equal to twice your skill level.

  • Grand Master: You get the same protection as the Shield spell gives you.

Chain

  • Normal: Your Armor Class gets better by adding your skill level.

  • Expert: The recovery penalty gets cut in half.

  • Master: The recovery penalty goes away.

  • Grand Master: Physical damage drops to two-thirds of what it was.

Dodging

  • Normal: Your Armor Class improves by adding your skill level.

  • Expert: Your AC gets even better; it goes up by twice your skill level.

  • Master: Your Armor Class is good now; it increases by three times your skill level.

  • Grand Master: Monks can now use Dodging even when they’re wearing leather armor.
