Might and Magic 9: How to Disarm Traps
Disarming a trap is a rather simple task in Might and Magic 9. Each area—whether a dungeon, city, or outdoor location—has a trap value. When a character opens a trapped chest or container, the trap is either sprung (if their Disarm skill is less than the trap value) or successfully bypassed (if their Disarm skill is greater than the trap value).
Reaching Expert, Master, or Grandmaster levels in Disarm Traps gives you a boost to your skill. Experts get double their skill value, Masters triple it, and Grandmasters can disarm any trap without fail.
You need one character to learn this skill; the others can skip it. Pick someone who can become a Master or Grandmaster – the Assassin fits this role best. Use the least number of skill points possible to hit the highest level of Master or Grandmaster.
Tip: When you’ve got a character who can reach Grandmaster level in this skill, don’t push the skill past 10. A Disarm Traps Grandmaster can disarm all traps without fail, so any extra points would go to waste.
