Might and Magic 9: Writ of Fate – Fighter Promotions Guide

Leveling up your Fighter to a Mercenary or Crusader plays a key role in advancing through the game.

Upgrade 1: Fighter to Mercenary

Quest Goal

To upgrade, you need to assist Atli Sigmundssen and his child with their move to a new home in Thronheim.

Steps:

Head to Thronheim City:

• Locate the tavern.

Speak with Thorfinn Skullsplitter:

• Find Thorfinn Skullsplitter at the bar.

• Check if he’s got work for you.

• Accept the job to watch over Atli Sigmundssen’s wagon train.

Go to Guberland:

• Make your way to Guberland.

• Spot Atli Sigmundssen close to the Gathering entrance.

• Tell him, “We’re here to keep your ship safe.”

• He’ll say to show up at 3 AM and hang around until 6.

Watch the Wagon Train:

• Show up at the Guberland dock from 2:45 to 3:15 AM.

• If you’re late, you’ll need to try again tomorrow.

• Use the “rest” screen to pass time until the right moment.

Fight the Bad Dudes:

• Crooks will attack between 3 and 6 AM.

• Defeat all the baddies and wait for Atli.

• He should show up around 6:15 AM.

Get Your Upgrade and Prize:

• Talk to Atli so he can make you a Mercenary and give you your reward.

• Say to him “Good luck on your trip.”

Promotion 2: Fighter to Crusader

Quest Objective

Stop the Yobboe Gang from forcing Drangheim’s villagers to pay them money.

Steps:

Head to Drangheim City:

• Make your way to the temple in Drangheim City.

Have a chat with Keith Bloodaxe:

• Find Keith Bloodaxe at the temple.

• Tell him, “We’re here to get promotions.”

• Agree to take on the job to get rid of the Yobboe Gang.

Take down the Yobboe Gang:

• Look at the Drangheim map to find the Yobboe camp location.

• Eliminate all the Yobboes in the camp.

Collect Quest Items:

• Head to the back of the camp and grab the plow, herbs, and dolly. You’ll spot these items if you’re working on the quest.

Hand Out Stuff to Villagers:

• Go to the small village near the camp.

• Give the plow to Hring the Plowhands.

• Drop off the herbs with Ragnheid Lifegiver.

• Hand over the dolly to Tyock A’Norta a’Leipshi.

Head Back to Keith Bloodaxe:

• Go back to the temple and let Keith Bloodaxe know you’ve done the job.

• Get your Crusader upgrade and collect your reward.
