NBA 2K25 - How to Hang on the Rim

Okay ballers and gamers, get ready to level up your NBA 2K25 play way past the hoop’s edge. I get it; you can hit threes like the pros, but let’s aim higher… We’re focusing on a move so iconic, it’s the signature of b-ball legends from Dr. J’s sky-high acts to Vince Carter’s era of ‘Vinsanity.’ Here, I’m referring to the supreme act of hanging on the rim.

Everybody gets what I’m saying: the fans lose their minds, you nail a monster dunk, and to top it off you’re chilling on the rim like a total champ. That’s your chance to bask in the win making it clear to everyone in the place who’s just turned it up a notch.

The Breakdown: The Art of Rim Hanging

Keep in mind: hanging off the rim isn’t just for kicks – it has an influence on the game. It’s you saying you rule the court and you’re not leaving. But stay up there too long, and you’re asking for a penalty.

Getting into Position

Get your player charging to the hoop, and I mean send them flying. Grab your controller, and you gotta keep that R2 button pushed down (or RT if that’s your jam on Xbox). This is your turbo, the secret sauce for ramping up the speed your dude needs to slam that ball.

Dunk and Hang

When you’re heading for the hoop press down on the right analog stick. Keep that R2/RT button pressed. Don’t release it yet. This will make your player slam dunk and grab the rim. That’s when the cool stuff starts.

Hanging Tight: Swaying on the Rim

You’re up there now so it’s time to put on a show. The left analog stick acts as your dance partner; it controls your swing. The right stick however, determines your direction. Push it up to rise; move it down to descend. Experiment, develop your style, and swing like you own the place.

The Drop: Returning to Earth

Sure, at some point, you need to return to the ground. When that moment arrives, release the R2/RT button. Just a heads-up, you don’t wanna hang around mid-air too long. Stick around past your welcome, and the ump’s ready to slap you with a technical.

Moving big, the rim hang isn’t a trick you’ll perfect right away. You’ll need to try and fail a bit. Hit up practice mode, understand the beat and movement…
