NBA 2K25: How to Speed Boost, Quick Stop & Best Dribble Animations for Comp Guards

So if you wanna be one of the top players in NBA 2K25 as a competitive guard; you need to master speed boosting, quick stopping, and dribble animations… let’s dive into how you can make defenders look silly and score points.

How to Speed Boost

Speed boosting is crucial if you want to get past defenders and create some room.

Dejounte Murray Dribble Style + Zach LaVine Stepback

  • Press turbo and don’t let go.

  • As you do the stepback, keep the left stick pointed in the same direction.

  • Once the stepback is done, push the left stick the opposite way, but keep it pressed.

  • Make sure you hold the left stick steady during the stepback. When you change directions while keeping the stick pressed, you’ll set off that speed boost and blow past your defender.

Darius Garland Dribble Style

  • Toss the ball to your other hand.

  • Right after, push turbo and keep it pressed.

This trick is simple and powerful. Just toss the ball then push turbo—fast and easy, but lethal when used right.

Stop on a Dime Like a Pro

As a competitive guard, you need to stop fast and clean. Here’s how you do it:

  • Just before you shoot, flick the right stick to the same side as your ball hand.

This will cause you to stop and pull up for a clean shot. Last year you could just release everything to stop fast. This year, you have to flick that stick right before you shoot to stop sharp and avoid those fades.

Best Dribble Animations to Compete

To stay ahead in the competitive scene, you need the right dribble animations:

  • Dribble Style: Dejounte Murray – Fast and nimble ideal to boost speed.

  • Dribble Style: Darius Garland – Fluid, with excellent handling for swift movements…

  • Signature Size-Up: Derrick Rose – Powerful moves to slip past defenders.

  • Behind the Back: Trae Young – Great to create room and get around your opponent.

  • Stepback: Zach LaVine – Useful for quick stops and speeding out of your moves.

  • Fernando

Fernando is doing what he always did, sharing his honest opinions about games whenever he can. The difference is now he is writing and not talking about it.
