PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS to Focus On Server Stability in June
Although there is still a lot of features and additions to be fixed and made to the extremely popular early access battle royale title, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, June will be a month of server fixes. While many people have problems with this feature or that, one issue that has cropped up for many is problematic server connections and lag. In a multiplayer game, that can truly ruin the experience for many, which is why the developer, Bluehole, has announced that it will spend the next few updates working to alleviate those issues for as many people as possible.
Originally launched in March, the game quickly shot up the Steam charts and showed up more established games in the space like H1Z1 and DayZ, by focusing exclusively on the Battle Royale style play. While zombie mode is a thing, it’s not part of the main gameplay and means that players can focus on killing each other instead. It’s an exceedingly popular title, but that has lead to the big spike in server problems, something Bluehole is now actively looking to fix.
Announcing the move on Twitter, Bluehole asked players to bear with it while it worked out some of the key issues it was facing with server problems. It did suggest that this next round of updates wouldn’t completely fix server problems, but should go a long way to making the game much more playable for the worst affected.
Some changes have already gone, out with a number of players reporting that they don’t get lag spikes or disconnect problems when landing. If you haven’t seen any improvement yourself, make sure to restart Steam to guarantee the update is applied.
