Rule the Waves 3: How to Rebuild Ships
Rebuilding ships in Rule the Waves 3 allows you to update your existing fleet to newer standards, thereby improving their efficiency and efficacy in battle. However, the process has specific limitations and guidelines. This guide will walk you through the rebuilding process.
Rebuilding Ships
Access the Rebuild Option: To start rebuilding, select the ship you wish to modify in your fleet. You will be able to review and select the rebuilding options.
Change the Main Armament: If your ship’s design allows, you can change the guns to modern versions of the same calibre. This is possible under certain conditions, such as:
- If the calibres are compatible, you have the option to convert triple turrets to double turrets equipped with larger guns, or vice versa.
- Double turrets can be converted to single turrets, and vice versa, if the calibres are compatible.
To see potential combinations during rebuilding, select the turret and click the ‘Rebuild?’ button beneath the turret list. Keep in mind that rebuilding guns generally comes with high costs and takes a considerable amount of time.
Modify the Secondary Battery: If the existing guns are in casemates or in turrets of 6 inches calibre or less, you can change them to any arrangement of 6 in guns or less. This modification applies to both the secondary and tertiary guns.
Upgrade the Machinery: Upgrading the ship’s machinery can boost the ship’s speed or free up weight for other modifications. It’s an excellent choice if you have modern machinery technology researched.
Improving Fire Control: Enhancing your ship’s fire control, a crucial aspect of naval warfare, can dramatically improve its battle performance.
Add Bulges: Adding bulges to your ship increases torpedo protection; however, this can also decrease speed. This is a trade-off that you need to consider based on your strategic needs.
Modify Armor: You have the option to add an inch of deck armor, or, as an alternative, you could choose to remove the conning tower or adjust the upper belt armor.
Convert to Aircraft Carriers: Provided that the necessary technology has been researched, you can transform your ships into aircraft carriers (CV or CVL). This can drastically alter the capabilities of your fleet.
Consider Ship Reclassification: Certain rebuilds may alter the ship’s classification. Most often, ships change from something else to CV, but sometimes BC (Battlecruisers) may be reclassified as BB (Battleships). The game definition of a BC changes over time, so occasionally when you rebuild a battlecruiser, the game might suggest it now be a battleship.
Remember, the strategic rebuilding of ships in Rule the Waves 3 is key to maintaining an up-to-date and competitive fleet. However, you should strategically consider the associated costs, both in terms of resources and time.
