For those who recall the originals, Suikoden originally hit the PS1 back in 1995, with a PC port coming along in 1998. Suikoden II hit PlayStation in 1998 and then PC in 2003, though those PC releases were originally available in a few Asian countries. Now fast forward to March 6, 2025 and we’ve got this fantastic HD Remaster; available now on Steam & the Epic Games Store, finally making these classics available on PC to the masses…

 

Let’s go rummage for those Suikoden I & II HD Remaster save files then. Sometimes you just have to get in there – back it up, shuffle things around, you know the routine. I’ll show you a quick method to find them. Basically, your save data is hiding in the game installation directory.

 

 

Steam Users

Open your Steam Library as if you’re going to play the game and find Suikoden I & II HD Remaster in your game list.

 

Right-click on the game title – go to Manage in the menu, then click Browse local files: a window opens up to the game folder.

 

Then, “Save” folder. Inside “Save,” you’re looking for a folder that’s just numbers. Saves are in there. Easy peasy.

 

 

Epic Games Store Users

Launch Epic Games Launcher and navigate to your Library. Search for Suikoden I & II HD Remaster there – click on the three little dots next to the game title. Right mouse click and choose Manage from the dropdown menu.

 

You will be able to spot a little folder icon under Installation: click and it will tell you the location of the game folder. Your Suikoden I & II HD Remaster saves just sit there in that numbered folder.

 

 

Save File Location

If you need the exact file path, it looks something like this:

 

[Where you installed Suikoden] \ Suikoden I_II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars \ Save \ [Random Number User ID Folder]

(<path-to-game>\Save\<user-id>\)
