Sea Power PC Keyboard Controls and Shortcuts Guide
/If you’re ready to take command of your fleet in Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age, mastering the controls is your first step toward victory. This game puts you in the captain’s chair of formidable ships and submarines, working your way through high-stakes missile combat in the Cold War era. To help you manage the battlefield and get the most out of your strategic plays, we’ve compiled this quick guide to default keyboard controls and shortcuts.

Unit Control:
- Left Click: to select a unit
- Right Click: to set a way point on the tactical display
- Bottom Bar: to change speed, altitude and depth
- W/S: to change speed (W for more, S for less)
- A/D: to turn left (A) or right (D)
- Rudder: double click for max turn
- Speed Control: multi-click for finer speed adjustment
- Right Click (on unit): change speed and altitude for selected unit
Date/Time Dilation Controls:
Click the Date/Time at the top to toggle between Zulu Time (default) and Local Time (in-game time). The bottom left box (default set to 1x) shows your current time compression. You can alter this by using the following buttons, from left to right:
- Left-pointing arrows: Rewind time
- Play/Pause: Pause or resume time
- Right-pointing arrows: Fast forward time
Weapon Control:
- Weapon Selection Icons: Click to cycle through weapons for manual targeting
- Chaff or Noisemaker: Click to deploy selected countermeasure
- Drop Fuel Tanks (for aircraft): Click to drop fuel tanks for increased maneuverability. Aircraft will automatically drop fuel tanks if they become empty or enter into combat. (maneuverability increase/decrease not implemented yet)
Weapon Range Indicators:
Red: Maximum launch range
Yellow: Minimum launch range
Blue: Maximum launch range based on the best fire control radar horizon
Green: Launch range on the worst fire control radar horizon
- Right Click (on track): Fire at the target. The unit will move out of range before firing if a target is below the minimum range
Formation Controls:
- Formation Manager: Drag and drop units to control formations
- Right Click (on selected unit): Gives the options to create, join, leave and disband formations
- Shift + Right Click: Units selected will be joined with a unit to form a formation
- Ctrl + Right Click: Units selected will be made leader of the formation
- Formation Orders: The right-click context menu has been updated to include air defense/sensor orders for the entire formation
- Return to Formation: Order a unit to return to formation
- Leave Formation: Order a unit to leave the formation
- Disband Formation: All units in the selected formation will leave it
- Formation Edit (Ships/Submarines only): Opens the Formation Editor to manage unit positioning within the formation
Right Click Context Menu:
Unit Reference: Immediately opens the reference sheet of the selected unit
Take Direct Control: Submarines and vessels only. Gives player direct control of vessel
Damage Control: Opens the damage control UI
Engage With: Like the bottom bar, this attempts to order a unit to use specific weapons without having to switch the camera to do so
Clear Waypoints: Clears plotted waypoints
Resume Course: Toggles from manual to auto control
Change Speed: Alters unit speed
Sensors: Toggles unit sensors, including EMCON
Create Formation: Creates a new formation with the selected unit
Join Formation: Puts selected unit into an already existing formation
Formation Orders: Sends out air defense and sensor orders for the entire formation
Return to Formation: Sends a unit back to the formation
Leave Formation: Causes the unit to leave the current formation
Disband Formation: Removes units from a formation
Edit Formation [Ships/Submarines only]: Opens the formation editor for modification
Flight Deck: Opens the Flight Deck UI
Orders: Opens extra orders for selected unit
Air Defence State: Switch air defence state of the selected unit (Weapons Hold/Tight/Free)
Cease Fire: Ceases the selected unit to fire on all targets, puts weapons to “Weapons Tight” (unit will still defend itself)
Helicopter Sonar Buoy Controls:
- Ctrl + Right Click: Queue a preset drop of 9 sonar buoys in a tight pattern
- Alt + Right Click: Drop sonar buoys in a wider square pattern
- Ctrl + Alt + Right Click: Drop 16 sonar buoys at once
