Buses are key to your early public transport strategy: they’re affordable & adaptable, though traffic can throw a wrench in the works…
- Start by hitting the Grand Village Milestone (Milestone 4) -> this is where you unlock the transportation options, including buses.
- First thing you’ll need is a Bus Depot -> this is your hub for all things bus-related where they go for maintenance. If you’re eco-conscious, upgrade to handle electric buses – they’re better for the environment & all that good stuff.
- Once your depot’s up, you can start linking to outside connections. We’re talking intercity bus lines that can use both bus stations & regular stops to move folks around.
- Setting up stops is your next move. You have two types: the no-frills stop sign & the shelter. Shelters are nicer, offering comfort for your commuters.
- Now, for creating a bus line, grab the bus line tool. Click to drop your first stop then keep adding stops in the order you want the bus to follow… Close the loop back at the start & you’ve got a complete route.
- The line overview lets you fine-tune your bus line. Choose your bus type – stick to regular unless your depot is prepped for electric. Adjust ticket prices, set the number of buses, schedule times & pick a color… You can even name your line for that personal touch.
- And if you want to give your buses a smooth ride consider adding bus-only lanes -> this can be done by modifying existing roads or laying down new ones dedicated to buses.
- So there you go – that’s how you set up a bus network in Cities Skylines 2. Keep it smart, watch the traffic & make those bus lines shine.
