To throw someone you need to press A+G together. By pressing A+G together your character will extend their arm and grab onto the opponent which will then lead into their throw animation.
To mix someone up, you can perform a back throw by hitting 4A+G (back and then A+G) this will begin a throw that will throw your opponent behind you. The throw system in previous Soulcalibur games was changed for this new system to this entry.
