Farming:

  • Different kinds of crops can be grown in farm buildings. Some need to be unlocked via research first.

  • Plots need to be placed around the farm in order to start planting. Some plots can only be placed on certain types of ground.

  • Most crops require water in order to be planted. Water can be gained through certain buildings, for example Air Wells if the humidity of a biome is high enough.

  • Some crops grow slower or not at all at certain temperatures. To check which temperature they prefer, select them or the farm building.

Food Gathering:

  • Food can not only be obtained by farming, but also by harvesting wild berry bushes. This is a great way to get food quickly, but won’t supply you in the long term as bushes regrow slowly.

  • Berry Gatherers can harvest berry bushes without destroying them. The more bushes surround the building, the more efficiently it operates.

Food Refinement:

Food gained from farming and gathering is called raw food. It will satiate your villagers, but won’t satisfy their demand for food quality.

Certain buildings such as the Kitchen, Bakery or Gourmet Kitchen can produce higher quality meals from raw food and/or other resources, depending on recipe.

There are three tiers of food quality:

  • Raw food: Basic foods gained from farming or gathering.

  • Simple meals: Higher quality meals prepared with one ingredient by the Kitchen and Bakery.

  • Gourmet meals: High quality meals prepared with two ingredients by the Bakery and Gourmet Kitchen.

Food Management:

The food management window gives you an overview over all food resources you have produced so far and their current amount.

They are sorted by food tier and each food resource can be individually toggled to allow or disallow your villagers from eating them. This can be helpful if, for example, you wanted all berries to be made into berry muesli without them being eaten raw.

Additionally, the food management window contains info about:

  • The amount of food consumed every day, and how long your current food reserves would last.

  • The current status of food quality and food variety.

  • A list of the last food resources eaten by your villagers.
