ConcernedApe’s mega-hit Stardew Valley has left an indelible mark on the gaming industry, delighting fans new and old with its unique brand of farming and life simulator in a quaint town. Originally released in 2016, the game has continually received new content and improvements that keep it at the top of the list for fans of the “cozy game” genre. Now, with ConcernedApe dedicating his time to his new game, Haunted Chocolatier, other developers have stepped in to fill the Stardew Valley-shaped hole in gamers’ hearts.

Live your afterlife to the fullest when SquareHusky’s Everafter Falls launches on Nintendo Switch and PC sometime in 2022.

Sun Haven

In Sun Haven, your little farm is just a fraction of the awesome world available for you to explore. In the beginning, you will arrive in the town of Sun Haven and make a life for yourself, starting a farm and developing relationships with the friendly townspeople. Once you’ve fully become part of the town, your neighbors will set you on a journey that will take you through awesome, mystical, haunted lands, as well as a few other towns apart from Sun Haven. Choose your race and team up with up to 7 of your friends to farm and adventure in cooperative online multiplayer. This awesome farming adventure is brought to you by Pixel Sprout Studios and is currently available in Steam Early Access with a full release scheduled for mid-2022.

Wunderhaven

You have been summoned by a failing town to revive it and bring some kind of prosperity to a land that is all but dead. The town of Wunderhaven needs a hero, but all it has is you, a peasant of little renown. Use your farming skills to bring some life back to the town, and engage in a number of different styles of gameplay including tower defense, action RPG, and dungeon crawling. Talk to the people of the procedurally generated city and build relationships to give them hope for the future as you do your best to start some kind of production. Your town revival will take some time, and you will watch seasons change as you rise to the top. There is currently no release date for Wunderhaven, but Wunderkin Studios is hard at work on the title and we should see its full release by the end of 2023.

Coral Islands

Brought to you by Stairway Games and published by Humble Games, Coral Islands is what Stardew Valley would be if it took place in a fully 3D environment with 3D characters. In addition to the traditional farming and townspeople interacting, you can also engage in a deeper version of Stardew Valley’s dating system. Meet a diverse cast of characters from all walks of life, fall in love, and maybe even have children and start a family on your little farm on an island paradise. You can also take a dive into the ocean to explore coral fields, or enter deep mines to search for resources there. However you choose to live your life in the Coral Islands, you’ll make your town a better place for everyone. Coral Islands is expected to launch on Steam sometime in 2022.

Bear and Breakfast

This last game on the list takes the farm management genre and flips it on its head. Instead of planting and harvesting crops, Bear and Breakfast has you starting and managing a bed and breakfast in the middle of the woods… as a bear. Turn an abandoned shack in the forest into a B&B destination by planning out rooms, decorating, and entertaining your guests to build your reputation. Also hidden within these woods is a mysterious secret that will slowly reveal itself to you if you take the time to explore. Bear and Breakfast is Being developed by Gummy Cat and published by Armor Games Studios with a release date sometime in 2022 for PC and Nintendo Switch.
