TOP 5 New Upcoming First-Person Shooter Games of 2022

The first-person shooter genre is as popular as it is diverse, with game experiences ranging from the manic online competition of Call of Duty: Warzone to the planet-hopping exploration of No Man’s Sky. These games simultaneously occupy the same genre while also being completely different in terms of gameplay mechanics. With variety like this, there is an fps for just about every taste, and that list just keeps getting longer. There are a number of first-person shooters either currently in development or scheduled to be launched this year, so let’s see what is in store for us with the top 5 upcoming fps games. Lock and Load!

  1. Graven

First on this list is Graven by Slipgate Ironworks. This late 90’s FPS throwback is set in a dark medieval fantasy world that has been taken over by infectious plagues. Go on a mission to uncover the origins of these plagues, and fight the heretics who seem so keen to keep that information hidden. Solve clever puzzles, wield a number of different weapons, and rip through thirty different enemy types across many different biomes. As you progress, collect new powers that will help you move forward, as well as reach new treasures in previously tread areas. Take your weapons to blacksmiths and alchemists to upgrade their firepower and special abilities. Become the master of your environment by altering it with different spells and crystals. Find the truth and earn your peace when Graven fires a crossbow through Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC.

  1. Rainbow Six Extraction

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege is one of the most popular competitive first-person shooters currently available, and their alien-flavored spinoff Rainbow Six Extraction will be here soon. Become a member of the Rainbow Exogenous Analysis and Containment Team (R.E.A.C.T.), which contains 18 total operators, several of which are returning characters from Siege. Intense multiplayer tactical shooting action abounds in environments that have been infected by Archaeans, an alien threat that spreads bio-organic matter to gain control of their surroundings. There are several different variations of Archaean to deal with, and they all have their own strengths and weaknesses and will need to be dealt with accordingly. Use a ping system to silently signal to teammates where threats are, areas to defend, and the location of weapons or supplies. Defeat the Archaeans when Rainbow Six Extraction infects PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, PC, and Game Pass on January 20th, 2022.

  1. CrossfireX

The Crossfire series of games are well known in the East, having been enjoyed in South Korea since 2007. Western gamers will soon be able to enjoy this FPS with CrossfireX, a graphically impressive FPS that has two parts: a free to play multiplayer segment made by the original game’s developers, Smilegate Entertainment, and a story campaign made by the masters of single-player stories at Remedy Entertainment, the makers of Quantum Break and Control. The single-player segment is being built on Remedy’s Northlight Engine, allowing for incredible aesthetics and lighting. The multiplayer, on the other hand, is being modeled on the popular competitive shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which is very promising for that mode. Get your hands on CrossfireX when it lands exclusively on Xbox consoles on February 10th, 2022.

  1. Shadow Warrior 3

Take on the role of Lo Wang once more in the third installment of the crazy FPS series, Shadow Warrior. Flying Wild Hog’s Shadow Warrior 3 continues the series signature style, over-the-top gameplay, and huge number of weapons. These weapons will unlock as you progress through the game, with the developer’s intent being that all of the weapons in the game are available by the halfway point of the story campaign. In addition to your armory full of guns, wield a katana that allows for close-quarters combat and violent finishers on stunned enemies, not unlike the “glory kills” of the most recent DOOM games. When your guns and katana aren’t cutting it, use the environment to your advantage to dispatch enemies. New for this entry are the mobility options presented by the grappling hook, wall run, double jump, and air dash. Ride out with Lo Wang for a wild time when Shadow Warrior 3 grapple hooks onto Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 1st, 2022.

  1. Atomic Heart

Last on our list is Russian developer Mundfish’s fantastic-looking FPS Atomic Heart. This Bioshock-inspired action role-playing FPS takes place in an alternate reality, the 1955 Soviet Union, where technology advanced too quickly and took over. Fight all kinds of mechanical monstrosities through the game’s story campaign using many guns as well as improvised melee weapons crafted from pieces broken off of enemy robots and discarded appliances. These improvised weapons form the crux of the game, as ammo is scarce in this world. Combat may not always be an option if facing a robot that is too strong for you, so you have the ability to use stealth to bypass these enemies. Choose to sneak around or swing through robots when Atomic Heart arrives on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC in 2022.
