TOP 6 New Upcoming Co-Op Games Releasing in 2022

Some of the best times I’ve had in all my years of gaming have been shared with friends playing cooperative games, either online or in person. The feelings you get from silently clearing a map full of enemies as Archer and Kestrel in Splinter Cell: Conviction, finding great loot to share in a Diablo game, or even just calmly tending to a shared farm in Stardew Valley are feelings that single-player games can only hope to emulate. Thankfully, we have many good times with friends on the horizon with these top 6 upcoming co-op games to put on your radar.

  1. Rainbow Six Extraction

Rainbow Six Siege has been a cornerstone of the online co-op scene since its release in 2015. It has continued to add operators, weapons, and other expansions over the years, but we have a new Rainbow Six spinoff on the way. Rainbow Six Extraction uses the same tense four-player co-op that Siege has come to be known for, but it changes up the story and setting to a future earth under invasion by an alien race that is using biological weapons to mutate humans in order to add them to their own forces. Play as the operators of REACT as they try to hold the alien plague at bay in randomly generated missions and hopefully reverse the damage that has already been done. Gear up and prepare for an incursion when Rainbow Six Extraction brings the Sprawl to PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, PC, and Game Pass on January 20th, 2022.

  1. Destiny 2: The Witch Queen

The popularity of Bungie’s sci-fi co-op shooter Destiny 2 can’t be understated, and the next expansion to that already expansive game is coming in hot. Destiny 2: The Witch Queen adds new raids, enemies, and weapons to the massive amount of content currently available. Squad up with your fellow Guardians, equip your most powerful weapons and abilities and solve the Witch Queen’s riddle to break her spell when Destiny 2: The Witch Queen enchants PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Google Stadia, and PC on February 22nd, 2022

  1. Gotham Knights

The next story in the Batman: Arkham universe is arriving as the four-player co-op, crimefighting extravaganza Gotham Knights. Play as the four members of the Bat-Family currently tasked with keeping the streets of Gotham safe: Red Hood, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin as they learn about their abilities and how to work together effectively. With Batman gone, it falls on the shoulders of these four vigilantes to fight the likes of his gallery of rogues. Gas up the Bat Cycle and get ready for WB Games Montreal’s Gotham Knights when it drops for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC in 2022.

  1. Redfall

Four-player co-op horde shooters were revolutionized by Left 4 Dead, and Arkane Studio’s Redfall seeks to further expand the genre with a fully open map, RPG mechanics, and a cast of well-written characters. The world of Redfall is overrun with bloodthirsty vampires, and your squad of four vampire hunters are the perfect people to wipe them out. These monstrous results of a science experiment gone wrong won’t go down easy, though, and they will mutate and get stronger as you do. Drive a stake through the heart of Redfall when it bares its fangs for Xbox Series X/S and PC in September 2022.

  1. Dying Light 2: Stay Human

We have a long-awaited, often delayed entry to this list with Dying Light 2: Stay Human. This sequel to 2015’s parkouring, zombie-smashing survival game is finally arriving after several COVID-related delays. Play through the campaign with up to three other survivors as you jump from building to building, craft weapons and items, and drop-kick zombies. Returning from the previous game is the day/night cycle, that introduces terrifying, exponentially more powerful zombies when the sun goes down. Use stealth to sneak past these monstrosities or parkour in an attempt to outrun them. Just know that if they catch you, you won’t live to see the morning. Dying Light 2: Stay Human finally swings a nail-infused bat on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC on February 4th, 2022.

  1. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

The creature slaying gameplay of the Monster Hunter series is incredible on its own and even more fun and rewarding with friends. 2021’s Monster Hunter Rise brought all of the gameplay and quality of life additions from Monster Hunter World and added a few of its own, like the cuddly yet ferocious Palamute companions. The expansion to Capcom’s epic game is arriving as Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, which will add new monsters, weapons, and locations to hunt in. Call up your hunter friends; a new hunt begins when Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak slashes its way onto Nintendo Switch and PC in Summer 2022.
