Victoria 3 – General and Admiral: Retirement & Death

Just like anyone else, generals and admirals can’t escape the sands of time—they get old and eventually pass away. When that happens, any troops they were commanding get handed off. First, they go to any other generals at the same HQ who can take on more responsibility. If there’s still troops left over, they head back to the HQ and chill there as a reserve or garrison force.

If a general or admiral isn’t cutting it or starts picking up some not-so-great traits, you’ve got the option to retire them early. This can clear the deck for someone with a better set of skills to step in. Just keep in mind, sending someone into early retirement doesn’t exactly make the Armed Forces crew happy, so there’s a cost to weigh there.
