Victoria 3: How to Activate Conscription Centers
Conscription centers work a bit like barracks, setting the stage for what’s needed in terms of goods and who’s going to be working there (soldiers or officers). But here’s the kicker: these needs only kick in when the conscription centers are up and running.
You can only fire up conscription centers when you’re in the heat of a diplomatic play or at war, and it’s all done on a state-by-state basis. To get the ball rolling, pop open the military window (shortcut: F5), head to the army tab, and hit ‘Activate conscripts’. Alternatively, you can go through the military lens, jump to the ‘army’ tab, and select ‘Activate Conscription Centers’.
Keep in mind -> pulling people into the conscription center means they’re stepping away from other gigs in the state. In places with lots of peasants, you’re probably cool—most jobs will stay filled. But in states without a big peasant crowd, activating a conscription center might shake things up in other workplaces. If you’re drawing a ton of conscript battalions from a state that’s short on peasants, you could see some real economic ripples.
Raising a conscript battalion isn’t an instant thing, especially if you’re calling up a large number from one state. It might even take longer than a diplomatic play to get everyone ready. And don’t forget about equipment. If you’re raising so many conscript battalions that you’re running out of gear, it’s going to hit all your battalions—both regular and conscript—hard; so plan carefully!
