Victoria 3: Save File Location & How to Backup
This guide will show you where to find the Victoria 3 save file location on your PC. Please remember that changing or removing these files could affect or corrupt the progress of your game in Victoria 3, so be careful before making any changes.
HOW DO I LOCATE MY SAVE GAME?
WINDOWS PC:
- %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Victoria 3\save games\
Do you want to make a backup of your saves?
If you’d like to keep the progress from your previous game, we recommend that you make a backup of your save data in a different location before you start a new game.
To backup your savegame:
- Open the savegame directory.
- Select the file and copy it into a different location, for example on your desktop.
Please Note: Sometimes, you need to show hidden folders in Windows. To do that, follow these quick and easy steps

Open File Explorer from the taskbar.

Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.

Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
