Warhammer: Vermintide 2 – Party and Weapon Roles
/Pick what you want to kill best with your melee weapon based on the roles, and then pick a complementary ranged weapon. For instance, playing Ironbreaker with an axe and shield is complemented by drakefire weapons or grudgeraker to fit both the role of a Tank and Ratcatcher.
Party
Sniper: Picks off specials and some elites from afar
Ratcatcher: Sweeping or fast attacks, AOE magic, heavy fire to manage hordes
Tank: Uses shield to draw aggro and push hordes, then skills to mitigate damage, revive bonuses
Rearguard: Tank-ish mix of horde-clearing and anti-elite, focused on the rear, revive bonuses
Hunter: Melee-focused elite killer, also good on monsters, power sweeps
Melee
1h axes: Mobility for blocking and dodging, armor-piercing
1h swords: Mobility for blocking and dodging, horde-clearning, headshots
1h hammers: Mobility for blocking and dodging, horde-clearing, sweeping
1h shield: Tanking and pushing, generally horde-clearing, only axe combo has AP
Dual: Very quick strikes for horde-clearing, if not AP then can headshot, daggers get a “bleed”
2h any: Swords have heavy horde-clear, the rest are good AP with sweeping power attacks
Spear/Halberd: Longer reach to manage hordes and kill elites
Glaive: Heavy AP, can insta-kill elites
Ranged
Blunderbuss/Grudgeraker: Rearguard, Ratcatchers, Tank
Crossbows: Sniper weapons, supplemental anti-special
Handguns: Sniper weapons, supplemental anti-special
Longbow: Sniper weapons, supplemental anti-special
Repeater Handgun: Hunter, Rearguard, anti-boss tank
Pistols: Hunter, Rearguard, Ratcatcher
Repeater Pistol: Hunter, Rearguard, Ratcatcher, anti-boss
Multi-shot Crossbows: Hunter, Rearguard, anti-boss
Drakefire pistols: Hunter, Tank, Rearguard
Drakefire cannon: Tank, Rearguard, Ratcatcher
Staffs: Besides flamestaff, the light attacks are extremely utilitarian by role and fire eats through armor
