WoW Classic Raid Attunements: Molten Core, Blackwing Lair & Naxxramas

Attunement to the Molten Core

You can enter the raid without being attuned, but why waste all that time?? The attunement lets you skip running through Blackrock Depths or begging a Warlock for a summon. Instead, speak with Lothos Riftwaker, who hangs near the Blackrock Mountain entrance to Blackrock Depths. He gives the “Attunement to the Core” quest.

For this quest; dive into Blackrock Depths and grab a Core Fragment near the Molten Core portal itself. Once you’ve got it, Lothos becomes your fast-travel buddy—no more dungeon treks!

Blackwing Lair’s Orb of Command

Blackwing Lair’s main entrance is deep inside Upper Blackrock Spire but there’s a shortcut. Head right of the Blackrock Spire dungeon entrance (in Blackrock Mountain) and you’ll find Scarshield mobs, including the Scarshield Quartermaster. Kill him to loot Blackhand’s Command, which starts the quest of the same name.

The quest requires interacting with the Orb of Ascension—hidden behind General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire. Fight your way to him, activate the Orb, and you’re attuned! Instead of slogging through UBRS, return to the Scarshield area. At the end of the corridor, click the Orb to teleport straight into Blackwing Lair.

Naxxramas Attunement

Naxxramas is… special. To enter, you’ll need at least Honored reputation with the Argent Dawn. Speak to Archmage Angela Dosantos at Light’s Hope Chapel (Eastern Plaguelands) for the quest “The Dread Citadel – Naxxramas”.

Here’s the kicker: the quest costs a ton of gold and materials unless you’ve ground your Argent Dawn rep. Higher rep reduces costs:

Honored: 60g + 5 Arcane Crystals + 2 Nexus Crystals + 1 Righteous Orb

Revered: 30g + 2 Arcane Crystals + 1 Nexus Crystal

Exalted: Free. Zip. Nada. (Thank yourself for all those Stratholme runs…)

Moral: Farm rep early to save gold for epic mounts instead of attunements.
